Eight Storeys of Stories

If you love books and don’t mind a bit of dust then (as soon as you’ve read this and told five friends about Ameezing) hurry on down to Collectors Treasury in Commissioner Street Joburg CBD.  Eight storeys of stories.  Books everywhere.  Piles and piles of books.  Books practically spilling onto the pavement, books lining the stairs, rooms and rooms of books as wallpaper.  Run by three brothers (I think, if not brothers then three very genetically similar business partners) who specialise in first editions and the occasional map, antique vase and print.

The other day I was looking for novels in Russian for work, really, and exactly twenty-four hours after my visit one of the ‘brothers’ called me to say he had found a box of Russian paperbacks.  Not too shabby considering the Russian Embassy and several other Russian contacts weren’t able to help.  Get your secretary to clear your diary for an afternoon, you’ll need all the browsing time you can get.
